Between February and March, lovely, crazy and impromptu jazz music floods the city. It's not just any old jazz, but the very best, organized by the Asociación de Músicos y Amigos del Jazz de Salamanca (Amajazz) (Jazz Musicians and Friends Association). The program includes lectures by jazz experts, such as Juan Claudio Cifuentes and concerts held in various bars. Each band normally plays three gigs on consecutive days due to the enormous popularity of the festival. Past performers have included Joaquín Chacón, Perico Sanbeat, José Mª Carles, Chano Domínguez and Carles Benavent. Nearly all the concerts cost 500 ptas (EUR 3). Contact the above number for more information about venues and times.

The Jazz en la Calle (Jazz in the Streets) festival brings to town jazz concerts in the open air, free performances by the best musicians, and stages in the historic area of the city.
The Salamanca town council together with the Asociación de Músicos y Amigos del Jazz de Salamanca - Amajazz (Association of Jazz Musicians and Friends), organises 18 jazz concerts in June, July and August at weekends. Six very carefully chosen bands take part, each performing up to three times.
The stages for these jazz sessions are set up right in the monumental area of town, in the Plaza de los Dominicos, Plaza Juan XXIII and the Patio de Escuelas. It's an ideal opportunity to enjoy summer nights in Salamanca, while listening to top-notch performances.
